Former Director General appointed Coordinator Senior Citizens’ Centre’s ambassadors
The Nigerian Senior Citizens Centre (NJSCC) has appointed a former Director General of the National Lottery Commission (NLC) and foremost television producer, Olorogun Peter Igho, as the National Coordinator of the centre’s Goodwill Ambassadors.
The centre’s Director General, Dr. Emem Omokaro, announced the appointment at a well-attended media and entertainment roundtable for the inauguration of a committee of NSCC Goodwill Ambassadors consisting of retired media chiefs above the age of 60 years.
During the ceremony, which held last Thursday in Abuja, Omokaro outlined the mission of the centre urging the goodwill ambassadors to extend the frontiers of the centre through advocacy, defence of senior citizens’ rights seeking social justice and the promotion of a healthy, comfortable environment for elders and senior citizens as they age gracefully.
The director general describe the centre as a major plank of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He urged the goodwill ambassadors to utilise a lot of their popularity and goodwill to create enhanced awareness and acceptance of the initiative by the populace.

The event was followed the next day by an investiture of the coordinator and other goodwill ambassadors, including actor Chika Okpala (aka Chief Zebrudaya of NTA’s Masquerade fame), former Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Alhaji Idi Farouk, and super actress Joke Silva, by the Special Adviser to the President on Health, Dr. Salma Anas.
A statement by a member of the Ambassadors’ Group, Dr. Danladi Bako, said the event was attended by senior citizens, like Wakilin Adamawa, Alhaji Hassan Adamu; a retired Permanent Secretary, Dr. Agari, and Dr. Stella Dorgu.
