12 Prostitutes Sent To Prison For Offending Lagos Govt; See What They Did
Some ladies have been sentenced to prison for offending the Lagos State government. Several warnings have been issued by the State government before a decision was taken against them. They were arrested and charged to court where they were sentenced. However, they are only spending a few months in prison and hopefully, they will change after they are released.
These are the prostitutes who normally use the Obalende area as their base. Their conviction was coming after the State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) popularly known as KAI arrested them and charged them to court. Their arrest was connected to the work they do and how it is affecting society. The agency that secured their conviction believed that their existence in that area could hinder the goodwill of the State governor for the residents of the area.
The Corps Marshal of the Agency, Major Olaniyi Olatunbosun Cole (rtd) while confirming the report, said the ladies were convicted for prostitution and breaching of peace when they were about to be arrested by the operatives agency, they might be trying to attack the operatives during the raid.
It was further disclosed that the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo- Olu has made it known several times that he wanted the State to be habitable for business but the situation at Obalende has gotten worse, prompting LAGESC to launch an operation to clear off the mess in the area and that led to the arrest of many people desecrating the environment while some of them were convicted.
Those who were recently convicted are the 19 prostitutes, 12 of them were sentenced to 8 months imprisonment while 7 others who pleaded not guilty were remanded in prison till the 18th of December for further hearing. The convicts were between the ages of 20 to 28. Their names were mentioned in the report released but it won’t be disclosed here due to one or two reasons.
