Dramatic Scene Unfolds As Man Climbs High Tension Pole, Attempts SUICIDE & Makes This Shocking Request From President Tinubu
In a startling incident on Saturday night, 28th September 2024, the Adamawa State Police Command successfully rescued and apprehended a young man who had climbed a 33kv high tension pole in the Mayo- Belwa Local Government Area LGA headquarters.
The individual, whose identity has not been disclosed, climbed the pole for an unspecified amount of time, refusing to descend unless his demand was met; which is the resignation of President Bola Tinubu.
The police intervened, ensuring the safety of the young man from the high- voltage pole, and subsequently took him into custody. The motivations behind the individual’ s actions and the circumstances leading up to the incident are yet to be fully understood.

On Sunday evening, 29th September 2024, the Adamawa State Police Command’ s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguruje, shared details of a peculiar incident with journalists. A man, whose name is being kept under anonymity, was rescued down from a high- tension pole in Mayo- Belwa on Saturday night after demanding President Bola Tinubu’ s resignation.
The police successfully rescued the individual and are currently holding him in custody in the state capital.
” The command is going to parade the man today (Monday) for attempting a suicide, You know attempting to commit a suicide is a criminal offence under our constitution, so we are going to charge him to court” , he said.
Furthermore, SP Nguruje emphasized that the police are sworn to safeguard human life and property, and anyone attempting to harm themselves will face the full force of the law. He stressed that it is the police’ s constitutional duty to protect the public, and any individual who tries to take their own life will be met with swift legal consequences.
Despite repeated inquiries from newsmen, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman Nguruje, declined to reveal the identity of the man, promising to disclose the information later. At the time of filing this report, the name of the individual remained undisclosed.
Meanwhile, an investigation by newsmen revealed that the Adamawa State Police Command cleverly enlisted the help of local residents in the area, who successfully persuaded the man to descend from the high- tension pole on Saturday night, bringing the standoff to a peaceful resolution.
During a visit to the police headquarters on Sunday evening, it was learned that the young man is currently being held in a safe and secure location within the Criminal Investigation Department of the Adamawa Police Command, where he is being protected and questioned as part of the ongoing investigation into the unexpected incident.
