LGAs Election Turns BLOODY As Gunmen Brutally Shoot & Kill Popular PDP Candidate
Tragedy struck in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State as gunmen shot and killed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) councilorship candidate, Raymond Timothy, and his brother, James Timothy. The incident occurred in Pari Ward on Sunday, leaving the community in shock.
According to Barnabas Chawai, a PDP chieftain in the local government, the brothers were returning from a political campaign in Kizachi Village when they were ambushed. Speaking to PUNCH Online, Chawai disclosed that the victims were on a motorcycle heading home when they were attacked by unidentified gunmen.
Chawai hinted that the killing might have political motives, urging the authorities to investigate thoroughly and ensure the culprits face justice. ” This is a heartbreaking incident, and as we approach the October 19 local government elections, urgent steps need to be taken to prevent further violence, ” he said.
Chawai also noted that Raymond Timothy’ s wife is pregnant with their fourth child, adding to the emotional toll on the grieving family. John Wanneh, the Secretary to the Village Head of Kizachi, shared his account of the tragic event. According to Wanneh, he had been with the victims just 10 to 15 minutes before the attack.
” We parted ways after spending time together, and shortly after, we heard gunshots near some guinea corn farms, ” he recalled. Wanneh, however, stated that it was difficult to confirm whether the killings were politically motivated, as the attackers were unknown.
As of the time of reporting, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, had not responded to inquiries regarding the incident.
The killings have heightened tensions in the area, with many calling for swift government action to restore peace and ensure a secure environment as the local government elections draw near.
