BLOODY WEEKEND ! Bandits Invade Defence Minister’s Hometown, SLAUGHTER People & Kidnap Others
In what could he described as another heartbreaking incident in the Northern part of the country, some deadly bandits over the weekend invaded the hometown of the Defence Minister, Bello Matawalle.
According to the report, the attack left two people dead and approximately 40 others abducted.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Saturday night in Janboka, a community in the Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, and has left the community in shock.
Residents of the area revealed that the abducted individuals are predominantly women and children, which added to the tragic episode in a region plagued by violent banditry.
Ibrahim Haru, a resident of Janboka, described the chaotic scene, saying, ” The terrorists shot indiscriminately as they entered the community. ”
He confirmed that most of those taken by the bandits were vulnerable members of the community, particularly those who are not strong enough to run for their lives.
It was reported that after the attack, a headcount which was conducted the following day revealed that around 40 people were missing.
Haru claimed that among the victims who lost their lives during the attack were Malam Isah and a teenage boy. Both were killed while attempting to escape from the assailants.
It should be noted that this attack is the latest in a series of assaults that have rattled the Maradun Local Government Area, which has experienced frequent attacks in recent months.
The recent attack comes just a week after another group of abducted individuals was released by the terrorists in exchange for a ransom payment of N10 million.

While the release of the 10 victims last week brought temporary relief, the fresh wave of violence has only deepened the community’ s despair.
Meanwhile, residents are reportedly lamenting the persistent insecurity in the region despite its connection to high- ranking officials, including Bello Matawalle, who served as Zamfara’ s governor before assuming his role as the Minister of State for Defence.
