BREAKING: Immediately FG Declared October 1 Public Holiday, Simon Ekpa Issues Deadly Order To Igbo People
Simon Ekpa, a self- proclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, has announced a total lockdown in the South Eastern states of Nigeria on October 1, 2024. The announcement was made in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) and cited by LATEST_NEWS Blog.
Ekpa stated that the Nigerian Independence Day celebration is banned in the region, which he refers to as Biafra. His statement read, ” Nigeria 1st October remains banned in Biafra territory. There will be a lockdown on the 1st of October before the 60- day lockdown of Nigeria institutions in Biafra territory as part of the ongoing delegitimization of the Nigeria terrorist state within Biafra land. ”
This development comes after the Federal Government declared October 1, 2024, a public holiday to celebrate Nigeria’ s 64th Independence Anniversary. The announcement was made by Dr. Olubunmi Tunji- Ojo, the Minister of Interior, through a statement issued by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior.
The minister congratulated Nigerians both at home and abroad on the occasion of the Independence Day celebrations. He praised the resilience and hard work of Nigerian men and women, emphasizing that their efforts and sacrifices would not go unnoticed. Dr. Tunji- Ojo also highlighted the importance of unity for the country’ s progress.
” Aligning himself with the theme for the Anniversary, the Minister reiterated the need for Nigerians to reflect on the labour of our heroes past and be inspired for the tasks ahead, realizing that a Nigeria of our dream can only be built when we unite, ” the statement added.

While the Federal Government looks forward to the celebrations, Ekpa’ s call for a lockdown has created tension in the South- East, a region that has seen ongoing agitation for the creation of an independent Biafran state. The lockdown, according to Ekpa, is part of efforts to delegitimize the Nigerian government in the territory he claims as Biafra.
As the date draws closer, many residents of the South- East are left in a state of uncertainty, with some fearing the potential impact of Ekpa’ s declaration on their daily lives and businesses.
