FEARLESS Children Storm Streets, Protest In Kwara, Calling Tinubu A ‘Thief’;
On Saturday, a large group of children, mostly under the age of 15, took to the streets of Ilorin, Kwara State, to protest against the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, led by President Bola Tinubu. The young protesters were seen in a viral video waving leaves, a traditional symbol of protest, and voicing their frustrations about the economic hardship the country is facing.
In the video, the children chanted phrases like, ” Tinubu, thief! ” and ” This suffering is enough. We are tired, and we cannot continue like this. ” Their words highlighted the growing discontent among Nigerians, particularly about the effects of government policies on everyday life.
Another video circulating online showed a different group of children protesting outside the Emir of Ilorin’ s palace. The protesters, who appeared to come from low- income families, were also expressing anger about the hunger and suffering caused by the government’ s actions. Many Nigerians have been vocal about the economic challenges they are facing, with rising inflation, fuel prices, and general hardship being at the forefront of their complaints.
Last week, the online news platform SaharaReporters published a story about a commercial driver from Ilorin named Wahab Ajibaye, who shared his struggles with the current economic situation. Ajibaye explained that despite making ₦20, 000 a day as a driver, rising fuel costs meant that after expenses, he was left with only ₦3, 000 to take home. He expressed his frustration, saying that the small amount was not enough to support his wife and children.
This protest by children and the ongoing frustration voiced by citizens like Ajibaye are clear signs of the growing dissatisfaction with the APC government. As the economic challenges continue, more protests and public outcry may arise from different parts of the country.
