LADIES BEWARE! ! ! See What Yahoo Boy Confessed After He Was Caught Trying To Kill Woman Inside Hotel
A suspected internet fraudster, commonly referred to as a ” Yahoo boy, ” has been arrested after confessing to tying up a woman for ritual purposes in an Abuja hotel. The suspect, identified as Joseph Efe, admitted during interrogation that his initial intention was not to kill his victim but to rob her.
This incident occurred on Friday, and Efe revealed more details during an interview with Daily Sun, explaining how he had recently ventured into online fraud and managed to earn over N500, 000 since starting last month. He claimed that no one introduced him to the fraudulent business, and he described himself as an artist.
Efe, a 30- year- old man, shared that he met his victim, Olivia Ijeoma Chukwuemeka, through a hookup app called Coded Runs, where they agreed on a price of N100, 000 for her services. However, when Olivia arrived at Top View Hotel in Zone 5, Abuja, Efe turned violent. He tied her hands and legs, stuffed her mouth with a white handkerchief, and attempted to withdraw money from her Opay account.
Unfortunately for him, Olivia had no funds in her account, which led to his frustration. He then locked her inside the room and attempted to flee but was apprehended by officers from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Olivia, a 25- year- old woman from Abia State, later recounted her terrifying experience. She stated that upon entering the hotel room, Efe asked her if she was afraid of death. He allegedly threatened her, saying that if she cooperated, she wouldn’ t suffer the same fate as other girls he had killed.
Efe then tied her hands and legs with white sellotape, stripped her naked, and used her own clothes to bind her. To silence her further, he stuffed her mouth with a white handkerchief and locked her in the room. He demanded access to her Opay account, but when he realized she had no money, he decided to flee.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, the Commandant of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, confirmed that Efe had confessed to being an internet fraudster.
According to the Commandant, Efe admitted that he had not been making significant money from his fraudulent activities, prompting him to seek out young women on dating sites like Coded Runs. Efe operated across several cities, including Port Harcourt, Lagos, Benin, and Abuja, using hotel rooms to rob his victims of their phones and attempt to steal from their bank accounts.
Further investigations revealed that Efe had arrived in Abuja from Lagos on September 17, 2024, and initially stayed at FAB Hotel, where he tried to lure another victim. However, his first attempt failed when the woman resisted, attracting the attention of hotel staff.
Efe managed to escape but later checked into Top View Hotel, where he met Olivia. After tying her up and discovering she had no money, he stole her phone and attempted to leave the premises. His suspicious behavior caught the attention of hotel staff, and NSCDC operatives were able to apprehend him after a brief chase.
Commandant Odumosu used the opportunity to advise hotel operators to install better security measures to protect their guests and prevent criminal activities on their premises. He also warned women to be cautious about the individuals they interact with, particularly through online platforms, to avoid falling victim to such dangerous schemes.
