Edo guber: Nigeria will suffer if Mahmood, INEC mess up – Odinkalu
Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Chidi Odinkalu, has warned that Nigeria will suffer the consequences if the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, mess with the Edo State gubernatorial election.
DAILY POST reports that former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, made a similar call on Friday.
Goodluck urged INEC and security agencies to be professional and neutral in discharging their responsibilities.
According to him, they must live up to expectations as an unbiased umpire and inspire confidence in all actors through a transparent voting process.
But in a post on his X handle on Saturday, Odinkalu cautioned that there is hardly anywhere one can go to in Nigeria without passing through Edo.
He, therefore, warned that there would consequences for the entire nation if the election is mishandled by the INEC.
Odinkalu said : “If Mahmood Yakubu & @inecnigeria mess with #EdoDecides2024 like they habitually do in deliberate manner, all of #Nigeria will suffer it: there is hardly anywhere u can go to in Nigeria without passing through Edo…. Not that the electoral bandit in charge of #INEC much cares.”
