Final Year Student Shot Dead By Security Guards; See Allegations Nigerian Police Levied On Him
The story of a young man who was killed by some security guards at a housing estate in Anambra has taken another turn as the police levied some allegations against the deceased. The allegations were coming shortly after the father of the deceased sent a petition to the police. It was gathered that the deceased, who was a final- year student was at the estate to buy from a fish pond located inside the Estate. He left home but did not return as he was shot dead by the guards securing the estate, the detailed report will be discussed here.
Tragedy as private security guards at Senator Stella Oduah Estate allegedly killed Noel Chinedu Okechukwu, a final- year Fine and Applied Arts student at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam. The student was reportedly shot dead by the guard on the 17th of August, 2024. The deceased was a resident of Ochuche while the estate is situated in the Akili- Ozizor community, they are not far from each other and they are under the same Local Government Area, Ogbaru LGA.
It was gathered that Noel (the deceased), on the day he was killed, went to the estate to buy fresh fish from a fish pond located inside the Estate, however, on getting there, the security guards did not allow him to enter and that led to an altercation between them. In the process, one of the guards pulled the trigger of his pump action gun and shot Noel. He slumped immediately after the bullet hit him.
After he was shot, the guards were said to be giving him water and after he took some qualities of water, he died. The guards later sent a motorcycle rider was later informed to go and announce his death to his family/parents. Some days after the incident, the father of the deceased sent a petition to the nearest police station, demanding justice.
While reacting to the petition, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Atani Police Division, Mr. Andrew told newsmen that the deceased student was a hoodlum and was among the gang looting and vandalizing properties inside the Estate. The DPO further accused the dead student that he and his gang members attacked the security guards with guns and he was killed in a retaliation attack. The allegations levied on the deceased have been causing brouhaha, especially among the friends and family of the deceased. What is your reaction to the incident?
