Ekiti varsity appoints 22 professors
The Appointments and Promotions Committee of the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has approved the promotion of 22 associate professors to the rank of professors.
According to a statement from the Office of the Registrar on Thursday, the decision was taken at the committee’s meeting held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
The new professors were the first of academics bred within BOUESTI to attain such enviable height since the university was upgraded to a university, from a College of Education.
Commenting on the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Adeoluwa, expressed pride in the committee’s decision, describing the newly minted professors as not only trailblazers in their respective fields but also a vanguard of a brighter academic future for the university.
According to him, the elevation of the outstanding academics to professorship “is a testament to their dedication, research excellence and the progressive strides our university is making as an academic powerhouse.”
The newly appointed professors were selected based on evaluations of their academic contributions, research publications, teaching experience and service to the university, the Registrar noted.
Similarly, the Committee approved the promotion of some Senior Lecturers to the status of Associate Professors, including Dr. Mercy Daramola, Dr. Anna Awopetu, Dr. Oluwafemi Adebayo, Dr. Ilesanmi Osasona, and Dr. Olaniyi Ojo.
