BAD Government? Popular Cleric Blasts Tinubu Govt, Speaks On Hardship In Nigeria; SEE What He Said
Cardinal John Onaiyekan, the former Archbishop of the Abuja Catholic Archdiocese, has expressed great concern over Nigeria’ s rising economic suffering under President Bola Tinubu’ s administration.
Speaking during a Marian Concert in Abuja for the 2024 Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Onaiyekan encouraged the federal government to swiftly reassess its policies, which he claims are increasing poverty across the country.
The cleric did not mince words when he assessed the current economic situation, stating, ” Everybody is now becoming poor. ”
Onaiyekan bemoaned Nigeria’ s dire economic situation. He pointed out that although people in power live lavishly, many citizens struggle to meet basic needs such as fuel.
” You can’ t tell someone to be patient with poverty while we see the people who are supposed to address our poverty, live flamboyantly, ” Onaiyekan stated.
He urged leaders to recognize the seriousness of the people’ s condition and take steps to alleviate their suffering, adding that ” there is a limit to what people can handle. ”
The Cardinal denounced measures that have resulted in unprecedented levels of economic misery, such as dramatic increases in fuel costs, inflation, and the naira’ s devaluation, which has left many Nigerians struggling to make ends meet.
He emphasized that the situation is especially dire for the middle class, which has been ” completely wiped out. ”
He urged the federal government to reconsider its approach, stating that leadership has a responsibility to ensure justice and equity, with the nation’ s common resources distributed fairly.
” When there is a sense of justice and equity, the nation’ s common resources are equitably distributed, ” he said.
In addition to his call for policy reform, Onaiyekan urged Nigerians to pray for their leaders.
A lot of people have reacted to this, someone said; ” The only three things tinubu is good at are reckless spending, bogus ethnic centered appointments and fuel pump price upward move, beside these three, nothing else in his skull” .
