Edo SDP merges with Another party, endorses New candidate
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has joined forces with Accord to adopt Dr. Bright Enabulele, as their party candidate ahead of the Edo governorship election set for Saturday, September 21, 2024.
This alliance bolsters the campaign of Accord’s candidate, Enabulele, who is contending to succeed Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Enabulele welcomed the SDP members with open arms, highlighting the shared commitment to democratic values and governance reform.
“We are thrilled to integrate SDP members into the Accord fold,” Enabulele remarked.
“Their decision to join us exemplifies a collective desire for democratic governance and a departure from autocratic practices.

The merger reflects widespread dissatisfaction among SDP members with the current political ecosystem, which they criticise as autocratic.
Reacting, Yakubu Asimu, the Deputy Chairman of SDP in Edo State said: “We are weary of the entrenched autocracy and lack of progress in Edo State, Joining forces with Accord demonstrates our commitment to change and to the pursuit of a more transparent and accountable government.”
