UNBELIEVABLE See Where Biafra Activists Are Being Kept, IPOB Reportedly Exposes; Details Emerge
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has recently issued a startling accusation, alleging that Nigerian security forces are secretly detaining Biafra activists in clandestine detention centres scattered across the country. The group claims that these secret facilities are hotspots for severe human rights violations, including torture, illegal organ trafficking, and enforced disappearances.
In a detailed statement released on Thursday by IPOB’ s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the group exposed several secret detention sites where they believe Biafra activists are being unlawfully held. The locations cited by IPOB include the Wawa Military Base, Kanji Dam detention centre, and various barracks and prisons across Niger State, as well as the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters in Abuja. These centres, according to the group, are notorious for their inhumane treatment of detainees.
Emma Powerful expressed deep concern over the conditions within these secretive detention centres, emphasizing the extreme suffering that detained individuals endure. ” We wish to alert the public about these secret detention facilities due to the horrible human rights abuses, maltreatment of innocent people, torture, organ racketeering, and forceful disappearances happening at these centres, ” she stated.
According to IPOB, the Igbo ethnic group, known as Ndigbo, has been disproportionately targeted by Nigerian security agencies. Many Ndigbo are accused, often without evidence, of being members of IPOB or the Eastern Security Network (ESN), or are framed as criminals and kidnappers. This targeting, the group claims, is purely based on ethnic profiling by the Nigerian government.
” The Ndigbo have been profiled because of their ethnicity by the Nigerian government and hunted and detained across all the illegal detention centres in Nigeria, ” Powerful declared. She added that these illegal detentions are not limited to the Igbo alone but also affect innocent individuals from other ethnic groups who find themselves locked up in what she described as ” gulags. ”
The group also issued a dire warning to families of missing persons, suggesting that they should search these secret detention centres for their loved ones. IPOB cautioned that many of the detained individuals might have been subjected to extreme torture or even killed for their organs. The group also highlighted a long- standing issue, pointing out that some IPOB members abducted by the Nigerian Army and Police during a peaceful rally in support of then- President Donald Trump’ s inauguration in 2016 are still unaccounted for.
” Until today, some of the IPOB members that the Nigerian Army and Police abducted during President Donald Trump’ s inauguration rally in 2016 at Port Harcourt (Igweocha), Rivers State, are still missing, ” Powerful lamented. She emphasized that, even after more than eight years, IPOB continues to search for those who were abducted during the rally, underscoring the grim reality that many may never be found.
These allegations by IPOB add to the growing concerns about human rights abuses in Nigeria, particularly in relation to the treatment of political activists and ethnic minorities. The group’ s claims, if substantiated, paint a troubling picture of state- sponsored repression and a systematic effort to silence voices advocating for Biafra’ s independence.
