TRUTH REVEALED! NLC’s Ajaero Police’s Second Invitation Wasn’t For Terrorism Financing, SEE Another Issue He Was Invited For
Facts have emerged explaining why the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, and the Secretary General of the Congress, Emmanuel Ugboaja, were re- invited by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). The invitation, which followed an earlier one, is linked to new allegations filed by a private company.
The initial police invitation, which Ajaero received, was based on serious accusations, including ” criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime. ” This earlier invitation caused a stir, but it seems that these allegations are no longer the focus.
In a follow- up letter dated August 28, 2024, and signed by Commissioner of Police Rufus Alajide on behalf of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID), a new set of allegations has been raised.
These include ” criminal intimidation, malicious damage to properties, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace. ” The letter also stated that Ajaero and Ugboaja were required to attend an interview at the FID in Abuja on Thursday, September 5, 2024, as part of the ongoing investigation.
The letter detailed that the NLC leaders were to meet with the Deputy Inspector General of Police at the FID Complex, located on Shehu Shagari Way, opposite Force Headquarters in Garki, Abuja. The police requested the cooperation of Ajaero and Ugboaja and provided contact information for further communication.
After the first invitation last Thursday, Ajaero, who was accompanied by NLC’ s legal counsel, Femi Falana (SAN), and others, stressed the union’ s dedication to patriotism, saying they would not compromise despite the challenges they were facing.
Femi Falana, confirming the development, explained that a few months ago, a private company lodged a complaint against the NLC leadership due to a picketing action carried out by workers at the company’ s premises. He noted that the current complaints against Ajaero were confined to ” criminal intimidation, conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace, and malicious damage to properties. ”
As investigations continue, the NLC leadership remains under scrutiny, but the nature of the allegations has shifted from serious accusations like terrorism financing to issues related to union activities and industrial action.
The situation highlights the tension between labor unions and private businesses, with the police playing a key role in addressing the complaints raised. The case continues to attract public interest, and the outcome of the police investigation is eagerly awaited.
