Edo Women SHOCK Oshiomhole, Take Unexpected Action Against Him For Mocking Obaseki’s Wife Over Her Childlessness
A women’ s group in Edo State, under the umbrella of the Edo Women Association, has strongly condemned the recent remarks made by Senator Adams Oshiomhole regarding Governor Godwin Obaseki and his wife, Betsy Obaseki, for not having children.
The group has demanded a public apology from the former governor for his comments, which they described as hurtful and disrespectful.
On Tuesday, the women staged a protest led by Maria Edeko, the Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, to express their outrage. Edeko, speaking on behalf of the women, called on Oshiomhole to apologize not only to the Obaseki family but also to all women in Edo State and humanity as a whole.
” It is disheartening to see a person who once governed our state stoop to such a low level, ” Edeko remarked. She emphasized that mocking a woman or a couple for not having children is considered a taboo and an act of sacrilege in Edo culture.
According to Edeko, Oshiomhole’ s comments were an affront to the dignity of women everywhere and a desecration of the values that the people of Edo hold dear.
The protestors also noted that the comment made by Mrs. Obaseki during a campaign for the People’ s Democratic Party’ s governorship candidate did not justify such a harsh response from Oshiomhole.
During the campaign, Mrs. Obaseki had remarked that without a First Lady in the Government House, women might face marginalization. ” We, as Edo women, have not seen the wives of the other candidates, ” she said, implying the importance of visible female leadership.
Edeko further condemned Oshiomhole’ s remarks, stating, ” Those who mock others for not having children yet are among the most ungrateful people on earth. ” The group rallied in solidarity with women and couples who have faced the pain of childlessness, calling on them to denounce Oshiomhole’ s behavior.
In their protest, the women praised Mrs. Obaseki for her contributions to the state, describing her as a woman of brilliance, compassion, and foresight.
