FEARLESS Peter Obi Blows Hot, Sends Provoking Message To Tinubu As Fuel Price Hits N1, 000/Liter
Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has strongly criticized the government led by Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the ongoing fuel scarcity in Nigeria and the confusion surrounding subsidy payments.
Obi, who was the Labour Party’ s candidate in the 2023 presidential election, took to social media to demand transparency from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), particularly concerning its financial operations and future plans.
In his statement, Obi expressed shock at the NNPCL’ s recent claims of ” financial constraints” in supplying fuel, a situation that has led to widespread scarcity and hardship across the country. He pointed out the contradiction between the company’ s reported N3 trillion profit in 2023 and its current inability to maintain a stable fuel supply.
Obi attributed the ongoing fuel crisis to what he described as government ineptitude. He highlighted the struggles faced by the $20 billion Dangote Refinery and other modular refineries in securing crude oil supplies, as well as the NNPCL’ s search for external operators to manage its refineries. According to him, these issues are clear indicators of the administration’ s incompetence.
Obi also emphasized that the Petroleum Industry Act mandates an open and transparent NNPCL. He urged the government to be forthcoming about the challenges facing the company and to take responsibility for the current situation.
In his statement, Obi said, ” Nigerians must stop at nothing in demanding transparency in the operations of government, especially critical agencies like the state- owned NNPCL whose activities appear to be shrouded in secrecy. The conflicting reports on subsidy payments have left Nigerians in the dark, unsure of what is happening in this all- important company. ”
He continued, ” It is very curious that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), which declared a N3 trillion profit in 2023, is now coming up with a bizarre claim of ‘ financial constraints’ in supplying fuel. The fuel scarcity crisis, characterized by endless queues and untold hardship, is a direct result of the government’ s ineptitude. ”
Obi concluded by calling for greater transparency in NNPCL’ s operations, financial dealings, and future plans. He stressed that the government must not violate the Petroleum Industry Act and must take responsibility for the current situation. ” We should not rest until we uncover the truth and hold those responsible accountable. The Nigerian people deserve better, ” he said.
