According to reports, a 40-year- old lady in Jigawa’s Guri Local Government Area (name withheld) burned herself on fire following her divorce from her spouse.
Shortly after the event, DSP Lawan Shiisu, the Police Public Relations Officer for Jigawa state, verified this information in a press release during an exclusive discussion with media in Duste, the state capital. He described the tragic event
and claimed that the woman, who lives in the village of Garin Mallam, lit herself on fire with fuel.
He described how the woman’s death was reported to the security personnel.
* On Thursday at about 07: 40am, the command received a heartbreaking and pitiful incident from Guri Local Government Ares that, a woman, aged 40 of Garin Mallam village, poured petrol on her body, set herself ablaze and got burnt beyond recognition on the outskirts of the village”.

Divisional Police Headquarters raced to the scene and verified the incident”. *The officers took the charred body to the hospital and later released the corpse to the family for burial”.
According to him, early findings of the inquiry showed that the dead had suffered from depression for a few months after her husband’ s divorce. He added that in order to find a solution, people should constantly submit their problems to the Almighty Allah, the state’s commissioner of police, Mr. Ahmadu Abdullahi.
In order to prevent such sad events, Abdullahi also counselled people to constantly seek guidance and assistance from their elders on difficult matters.
