“I Used The Ransom Money To Pay My Kids’ School Fees”- Former Police Agent Arrested For Kidnapping Confesses (VIDEO)
A man suspected of kidnapping, Tosin Oke, also known as ” Old Soldier, ” was revealed to have been involved with a gang that kidnapped an oil magnate on Ado Road in Ajah, some months ago.
In a video which is trending online, the suspect has shared how he spent his share of the ransom money he got, after the operation with other accomplices of his kidnapping gang.
Speaking in an interview with news media, Oke, who communicated in Pidgin English, said: ” I was given the sum of $1, 700, and when I exchanged it at the Bureau De Change, I got N1. 8 million. ”
” I used part of this money to pay the school fees of my kids as well as feeding, then I had the rest saved in my account. I regret that I got involved in this (kidnapping); I’ m not even sure if I got bewitched into joining the (gang). How I became part of this, is what don’ t understand, ” he claimed.
It was reported earlier that the oil magnate (the victim) was at his dredging site, when an armed gang of six men picked him up him, taking him away in a speedboat to an undisclosed location via the waterways.
The assailants, who were heavily armed that fateful day, fired warning shots into the air to discourage anyone from approaching them.
In the aftermath of the incident, the family of the victim managed to put together the sum of N42 million, which they converted into $30, 000 in accordance with what the kidnappers demanded, along with an additional naira sum of N100, 000.
The ransom was conveyed to the gang, but after that, three of the criminals, Adelaja Ikuesan, Tosin Oke, and Oluwabunmi Yusuf, were eventually arrested in their hideout after they shared the ransom.
Oke, who had also been involved in bunkering for quite a while, claimed that he had used his share of the money to cater to his family’ s needs.
He denied that a mansion which he constructed in the Badagry area of Lagos was sponsored by his criminal activities, claiming that it was built with contributions from members of his family.
” To be honest, I regret that I got myself involved in this. Even members of my family questioned my involvement, because they knew I hadn’ t been part of anything like this ever before. I used to work as an agent for the police in Zone 2. What could have driven me to participate in something like this? “
