AFTER Politician Slumped & Died, INEC Official Reportedly COLLAPSES, Dies In Abuja; See Shocking Details
In another shocking and heartbreaking report, an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, reportedly slumped and died on the same day a similar incident happened to a prominent politician.
It could be recalled that it was reported that a former deputy speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Harford Oseke, died on Monday, August 19, at the age of 64. He reportedly collapsed while doing exercise at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka and all efforts to revive him by the people that witnessed the incident totally failed.
Meanwhile, on the same day, a Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of INEC in Ogun State, Barrister Niyi Ijalaye, slumped and passed away shortly after attending a meeting of RECs at the Commission’ s headquarters, Abuja.
According to the report, the official of the electoral body died inside his hotel room after he attended the meeting, which was chaired by INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.
It was gathered that the meeting was held to discuss the upcoming off- cycle governorship elections in Edo and Ondo States, as well as to discuss the seven vacant seats in the National and State Assemblies.
Unfortunately, Barrister Ijalaye, who said to be in good spirits and show no sign of weakness during the meeting, retired to Bon Octagon Hotel in the Federal Capital Territory but was pronounced dead after a few minutes.
Reacting to the incident, the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, described the death of Mr. Olaniyi Ijalaye, as devastating and a rude shock. He described the deceased as an honest, committed, and cerebral public servant with a high level of humility and patriotism.
” I sympathise with the entire Ijalaye dynasty, the people, and the government of Ondo State on the passing of their great and illustrious son; indeed, Barrister Ijalaye was an exemplary figure of diligence, commitment, and honesty in public service, ” he said in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Lekan Adeniran.
