JUST- IN! IGP In TROUBLE As Tinubu Receives Unexpected Message Over Killing Of 40 #EndBadGovt Protesters
President Bola Tinubu has been urged to immediately sack the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun, following the tragic killing of several hunger protesters across Nigeria.
The demand was made by the Take It Back Movement (TIB), a prominent organization involved in the EndBadGovernance protests, through a statement issued by its National Coordinator, Sanyaolu Juwon.
In their statement, TIB alleged that officers of the Nigeria Police Force were responsible for the deaths of at least 40 protesters who were participating in demonstrations against the high cost of living.
The organization claimed that these protesters were unjustly met with lethal force while they were peacefully voicing their frustrations about the worsening economic situation in the country. The TIB further revealed that approximately 1, 000 protesters have been remanded in various states across Nigeria.
The statement highlighted that 632 protesters were remanded in Kano, while 109 were held in Sokoto prisons. The group condemned the police’ s use of teargas and live ammunition against individuals they described as peaceful demonstrators.
” We demand the immediate sack of the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, over the death of close to 40 protesters who were served bullets because they demanded bread, ” the statement read.
The group expressed deep concern over the brutal crackdown on citizens who were merely exercising their right to protest against hunger and economic hardship. The protests, which began on August 1, were initially peaceful but were reportedly hijacked by criminal elements.

This led to clashes between protesters and security operatives, resulting in the tragic loss of lives. The demonstrations were organized to draw attention to the rising cost of living in Nigeria, with many citizens struggling to afford basic necessities like food and shelter.
As the protests come to a close today, August 10, the TIB and other civil society groups are calling for accountability and justice for the lives lost during the demonstrations.
The demand for the removal of IGP Egbetokun is seen as a crucial step towards addressing the concerns of the protesters and preventing further violence in the future.
