Tragedy struck in Maiduguri, Borno State, as suspected Boko Haram insurgents infiltrated #EndBadGovernance protesters, killing four people and injuring 34 others. The incident occurred along Baga Road, where the protesters had gathered to express their grievances against the government. The Commissioner of Police, Yusuf Lawal, confirmed the incident and stated that the police had deployed the Explosive Ordnance Device (EOD) team to render the area safe.
According to eyewitnesses, the protesters were peaceful until the suspected Boko Haram elements infiltrated the crowd, causing chaos and violence. The police were quick to respond, but the situation had already spiraled out of control. The injured persons and corpses were evacuated to Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri for treatment and autopsy.

A stray bullet hit one of the victims, Yahaya Nda Isah, a resident of Hassan Dalatu Road, Suleja.

In Maiduguri, the police commissioner stated that many minors, mostly almajiris, between the ages of 9 and 15, took over the Maiduguri- Kano Road, vandalizing public property. Despite police persuasion, the crowd turned riotous, forcing the police to declare a 24- hour curfew in the state. Fourteen suspects have been arrested and are currently under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in the state capital.
