Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano has expressed his support for the #EndBadGovernance protests, which have gained traction amid rising living costs during President Bola Tinubu’ s tenure. Speaking at a gathering at the Kano Government House, Governor Yusuf endorsed the nationwide demonstrations, emphasizing their importance as a democratic right.

Meanwhile, the Take It Back Movement, one of the organizers of the hunger protest, has called on President Bola Tinubu to instruct security agents not to use violence against protesters. The movement and other groups have declared August 1 to 10 as the period for their protests against the economic hardships faced by citizens.
Despite government efforts to prevent the protests, the organizers remain resolute. In an open letter addressed to the president and signed by the group’ s Director of Mobilisation, Damilare Adenola, they asserted that no amount of violence could silence the masses’ voices. The letter, dated July 31, issued a warning to the administration not to attempt to silence their voices with bullets or any other means, asserting that the blood of those who have suffered will not be shed in vain.
The movement also urged security agencies to defy unlawful orders and to stand with the people. Adenola referenced the 2020 #EndSars protests, during which peaceful demonstrators were attacked at the Lekki Toll Gate, suggesting that while former President Buhari may have avoided accountability for his actions, President Tinubu would not be able to do the same.
The call to security agencies is a plea to refuse orders that go against the people’ s will, encouraging them to support the citizens rather than oppose them.
