In a bold assertion, President Bola Tinubu addressed concerns over potential manipulation by cabal, political sponsors and other interest groups in Nigeria’ s ongoing economic reforms.
Speaking at the State House on Thursday, the President assured the public that his 2023 campaign was entirely self- funded and devoid of any obligations to individuals or institutions. Tinubu’ s victory, he emphasized, was a result of divine intervention, meticulous planning, and widespread support from Nigerians.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu was quoted saying, ” I have no cabal. I have no sponsors. The money I spent on the elections was my fortune. At some point, the odds were against me; banks were locked. But Allah, the Almighty God, said I will be the President. Mine is to now follow the leading and teaching of the Almighty God. ” This declaration underscores his commitment to integrity and independence in governance.
The President’ s remarks come amid ongoing economic reforms aimed at stabilizing and revitalizing Nigeria’ s economy. Tinubu highlighted that a good conscience is a powerful defense, not only against corruption but also in ensuring transparent and effective governance.

” The sponsors of protests do not love our country. They have no love for the nation. They do not understand citizenship. They have alternative passports, ” Tinubu said, highlighting the dangers of premature politics and internet- fueled anger.
In response to these challenges, the President announced plans to rework the social welfare scheme, ensuring it reaches the grassroots level. This initiative aims to provide financial assistance directly to the poor and vulnerable.
Tinubu outlined various measures to support citizens, including student loans to cover school fees and consumer credit to help people buy cars and houses, repayable in installments. Additionally, he mentioned a significant increase in the minimum wage by over 100%.
” We are reworking the social welfare scheme to reach the ward level, which is the closest to our people. We are going to ensure that we re- establish connection with the wards, again, so that we can give allowances to the poor and the vulnerable, ” Tinubu stated.
