BREAKING! ! Tears Flow As Nigerian Army Invade Imo Community, Allegedly Gun Down Numbers Of Civilians
A violent Nigerian Army operation in the Awomama community, Imo State, has reportedly killed some inhabitants and maimed others. SaharaReporters saw footage of the event in which military arrived in five heavily armoured trucks and used explosive devices on residential residences.
Eyewitnesses that at least 13 civilians, including men, women, and children, were killed in the strike. Many more suffered injuries or were forced to leave. Properties worth billions of naira have also been destroyed. Meanwhile, the army announced that its troops from the Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA, in collaboration with other security agencies, raided and cleared Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, the Eastern Security Network (ESN) camps on July 20, 2024, as part of ongoing operations to deter their activities in the region.
The raids occurred in Imo State’ s Mbaitoli Local Government Area, specifically in Ezioha- Eziama village. The Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Department of State Services, and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps all worked together to strike the ESN camp of notorious commander Lucio Agu, also known as B44. The statement reads: ” During the firefight, troops neutralized two IPOB/ESN commanders known as Asari and Mazi while others fled with different degrees of gunshot wounds. ”
The materials recovered included two AK- 47 weapons with three magazines, 102 rounds of 7. 62mm special ammunition, CCTV cameras, and various charms. In a simultaneous operation, Sector 3 troops destroyed another IPOB/ESN camp in Ezere Forest, between Umuawa and Aku villages in Okigwe and Ummuneochi Local Government Areas of Imo and Abia States. Due to superior gunfire, the irredentists ran into surrounding bushes with bullet wounds, leaving behind a general- purpose machine gun, various ammo, four motorcycles, and four radios.
The Joint Task Force South East Operation UDOKA urged the public to cooperate: ” We call on the good people of the South East to continue to provide credible and timely information that will help to annihilate the criminals in the region. ” Citizens can provide important information by phoning *193* and pushing. The task force reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, noting that ” Operation UDO KA will continue to carry out its constitutional roles in line with global best practices as laid down in the rules of engagement guiding its operations.
