Informant For Bandits: Kastina APC Women Leader Makes Confession, Reveals How Much She Gets From Helping Bandits
Aisha Abubakar, a women leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, has confessed to being an informant for bandits. Abubakar admitted to receiving a small portion of the ransom money in a case that involved the kidnapping of five family members of the Tsaiyaya Ward APC chairman.
In a widely circulated interrogation video, Abubakar detailed her involvement in the kidnapping scheme. She confessed to providing crucial information that led to the abduction of Alhaji Sanusi, two of his wives, and three children. This operation, carried out in the Tsaiyaya Ward in the Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, resulted in a ransom payment of N9 million and a motorcycle. Despite the large sum, Abubakar received only N5000, with a promise of an additional N15, 000 upon her return from a wedding ceremony in Zaria.
Abubakar’ s confession included details about her collaboration with other individuals in the community. She mentioned being approached by Zainab, who is currently at large, to gather information on Alhaji Sanusi and the APC chairman’ s family. This intelligence facilitated the kidnapping operation. Abubakar also named Yahaya, Audu na Bani, and the children of Bashar as other key players in the kidnapping plot within the Tsaiyaya community.
In addition to her role in the kidnapping, Abubakar admitted to participating in a cattle rustling operation. She stated that her involvement in this crime earned her N20, 000. ” I was also a key informant in the successful cattle rustling in Tsaiyaya some time ago and I got N20, 000 from that operation, ” she confessed.
The revelations have sent shockwaves through the community and the APC, highlighting the troubling extent of banditry and its infiltration into political circles in Katsina State. Abubakar’ s confession underscores the challenges that authorities face in combating banditry, where local informants play a significant role in the success of criminal operations.
The case has prompted calls for a thorough investigation to bring all involved parties to justice and to address the root causes of banditry in the region. The APC and law enforcement agencies are expected to intensify efforts to identify and prosecute those collaborating with bandits, as well as to enhance security measures to protect vulnerable communities from such criminal activities.
