GOODNEWS As Price Of Cooking Gas Drops Nationwide, See Current Price Per Kg
A recent survey indicates that the average price of cooking gas in Nigeria has reached its lowest point in four months. Market dealers credit this decline to government measures such as the removal of Value Added Tax (VAT) and import duties on cooking gas to boost local supplies, along with the relative stability of the naira against the dollar in the foreign exchange market. Additionally, the government has commenced distributing one million unrestrained LPG cylinders nationwide to enhance access.
Market checks reveal that the price of cooking gas has fallen below ₦900 per kilogram for the first time in four months. The last occurrence of prices dropping below ₦800 was in early 2024, following a reduction from ₦1, 300 per kilogram. Dealers assert that the government needs to maintain these efforts to keep prices low and ensure cooking gas remains affordable for Nigerians.
