AFTER 70k Minimum Wage, SEE What TINUBU Vows To Give Workers That SURPRISE Nigerians
President Bola Tinubu and the organised labour finally reached an agreement over the new minimum wage on Thursday. The President, however, vowed to give the union more than the agreed N70, 000 wage.
According to a statement by the presidential aide, Bayo Onanuga, in addition to the N70, 000 minimum wage, the President will give 36 CNG buses to the workers across the federation.
It was gathered that the decision is part of the plan to reduce the high cost of living by the workers and minimise the amount they will be spending on transportation. The statement revealed that each of the buses has 100 sitting capacity.
” Tinubu to give 36 CNG buses to Labour unions as a way of ameliorating the high cost of living by workers, President Bola Tinubu has promised to give 36 CNG powered buses with a sitting capacity of 100 each to the TUC and NLC, ” Mr. Onanuga said in a post on his social media account.
He added that it was one of the agreements reached by the President and the organised labour during their meeting at the State House on Thursday.
” This was one of the highlights of the meeting between the Federal Government and the two central trade unions in Abuja today, ” he said.
Meanwhile, the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Joe Ajaero, has revealed why the union accepted N70, 000 as the new minimum wage despite the initial determination not to accept any amount below N250, 000.
Speaking to the press, Ajaero accompanied by Comrade Festus Usifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and other representatives of Nigerian workers, stated that the unions had accepted the offer because the President promised a review every three years as against what obtained in the past.
He said this will give the labour union the opportunity to review the minimum wage base on the economy situation of the country in the next three years.
