The Abia State Police Command has confirmed the death of a female evangelist, Happiness Echieze, in a guest house in Aba, with suspicions of murder. According to the police report, on August 13, Mr. Godwin Akpan, a resident of Jubilee Guest House in Ovom village, reported the incident to the Isialangwa Police Division. The police investigation revealed that Bishop Timothy Otu had checked into the guest house with Echieze on the evening of August 12. The next morning, Akpan discovered Echieze’ s lifeless body in the bishop’ s hotel room, unclothed and with a white substance emanating from her mouth and nose. The bishop was absent from the scene.
The police have launched preliminary investigations into the matter, and the deceased’ s body has been transported to the SDA Mortuary in Aba for an autopsy examination. Bishop Timothy Otu has been arrested, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for discreet investigations.
Online media houses in Abia State have reported that Echieze, a 43- year- old mother of five, was allegedly having an affair with Bishop Otu, who was said to be her lover. Her husband was reportedly based in Bayelsa State. The police have not confirmed these allegations, and the investigation is ongoing.
