UNBELIEVABLE! Herdsmen JUBILATE As Cows Will Be TRANSPORTED By Trains; See Shocking Details
In what could be described as another good news for the herdsmen across Nigeria, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) says herders will soon be transporting their cows from one location to another with the use of trains.
It should be noted that this comes a few hours after President Bola Tinubu announced the creation of a Livestock Development Ministry that will cater for the plight of the herdsmen, their cows and similar businesses in Nigeria.
According to the report, the NRC Managing Director, Fidet Okhiria, revealed the plan to start moving cows with trains while speaking on Channels Television’ s The Morning Brief breakfast show on Wednesday.
He said the practice was in place before it was suspended in 2017 over technical hitches. He, however, assured Nigerians that the movement of cows with trains will resume very soon on the Warri- Itakpe train services. Furthermore, he added that many other goods will also benefit from the development.
Okhiria said they will modernise the movement of goods in the country ” so that when they come by road from the north, they can move them by rail to South- South Warri” .
He added that they have ” built 15 wagons for livestock and maybe in the next month or two months, they would be deployed from Itakpe to Warri to drive the economy. ”
Speaking further, he said they are not looking forward to making profits with the transportation model, but to improve social and economic value of the people.
” You are not developing transportation because you want to make profit in terms of Naira and kobo but the profit will come indirectly if we can move goods and link cities, ” he said.
Meanwhile, it should be noted that the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), has commended President Tinubu for the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development.
The President of the association, Alhaji Baba Othman- Ngelzarma said ” with this development, MACBAN believes, the hope of the Nigerian pastoralists is now achieved under the Renew Hope Agenda.
