UNBELIEVABLE ! VP Shettima Goes Wild, Issues Strong Warning To Hungry Nigerians Over Economic Hardship
Vice President Kashim Shettima has warned Nigerians to refrain from casting curses on the country due to current hardships, emphasizing that those who abuse the system cannot expect to benefit from it.
His comments came during the 2024 Nigerian Risk Leadership Summit and Awards held in Abuja, under the theme: ” Connecting Risks, Resilience, and Innovation for Sustainable Growth. ”
Represented by Tope Fasua, Special Adviser to the President on Economic Affairs in the Office of the Vice President, Shettima highlighted the positive developments in several key sectors, despite the economic challenges faced by the nation.
” There are a lot of opportunities in Nigeria. Let us count our blessings. Let us not put our country down, ” Shettima remarked. He noted that while the nation faces significant difficulties, including inflation, sectors such as health, petroleum, agriculture, and real estate are performing well. ” It cannot be tales of woes all the time, ” he added, stressing the importance of recognizing and celebrating these successes.
Specifically, Shettima pointed to the health sector’ s advancements, the petroleum industry’ s stability, and the agricultural sector’ s growth, particularly in cassava farming. ” People buy it there on the farm. I am not saying that things are easy. The government has come with very tough reforms, ” he acknowledged.
However, Shettima emphasized the need for Nigerians to adapt to these reforms and maintain a positive outlook. ” If you go out and say Nigeria is a lousy country, forgive my French, you are going to get lousy results. Someone said that you are not going to benefit from the country that you curse. ”
The Vice President also outlined the government’ s plans to elevate indigenous companies to the global stage and foster more innovation within the business landscape. ” Whereas we are working towards taking many of our companies global and opening up the economy to more innovations in the business space, we celebrate our MSMEs and urge them to do a lot more, ” he stated.
Shettima underscored the importance of innovation in achieving modern wealth and prosperity. ” Innovation is the key to modern wealth and prosperity and is fused with sustainability. Innovation is about adding value to what we already have and making the lives of human beings easier, ” he concluded.
