In a heartbreaking event in Faram village, within the Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa, a quarrel between husband questioning his wife about a miniskirt she wore has led the man’ s death.
The argument erupted when Patrick John came back from a local bar and saw his pregnant wife, Maryam, dressed in a miniskirt in their shared compound. He had earlier instructed her not to wear such clothing.
As per information obtained by DAILY POST, the dispute started when Patrick questioned Maryam regarding the miniskirt.
It is claimed that he seized her by the neck, causing her to resist and scream for assistance the uproar attracted the attention of neighbors, who quickly intervened and managed to pull the couple apart. However, Patrick was undeterred and, after a short while, he came back to confront Maryam once more.
In a frantic attempt to defend herself, Maryam grabbed a hoe and struck Patrick on the forehead. The impact resulted in Patrick being rushed to the hospital, where he tragically died from his injuries. The incident has left the entire community in a state of shock and grief, maryam was later brought before the court on charges of culpable homicide.
During her hearing at Chief Magistrate Court 2 in Yola, overseen by Magistrate Musa Alhaji Adamu, Maryam pleaded guilty but claimed that her actions were in self- defense. She explained that her response was an instinctive move to protect herself from her husband’ s aggression, magistrate Adamu ordered Maryam to be remanded following her guilty plea and postponed the case to July 10, 2024.
