About twenty travelers have reportedly been abducted by gunmen on the Sagamu- Ijebu- Ode Expressway. The ambush took place on Sunday near the Sagamu area command of the Nigeria Police Force and the township of Ilishan.
Despite the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Omolola Odutola, dismissing the report as false, local sources provided a different account. Wemmy Osude, a resident and chairman of the Ilishan Development Council, confirmed that a victim had been shot in the knee during the incident. This victim, a resident of Ilisan Remo, is currently receiving medical treatment at Babcock University Teaching Hospital.
Osude shared that the information reaching him indicated a kidnapping event occurred between the Area Command and Ilisan City Gate. He revealed that the injured resident was shot in the knee and is now under medical care at Babcock Teaching Hospital. According to Osude, other victims were forcibly taken into the surrounding bush.
He also mentioned that he had communicated with the resident who is receiving treatment and assured that the individual’ s condition is stable. Osude expressed his concern over the incident and disclosed that he had discussions with the Sagamu Area Commander. He voiced his hope that security forces would actively pursue the gunmen and work towards the safe rescue of the abducted individuals.
