According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos police command, the incident began when the police officer and his colleagues were on patrol and attempted to impound the motorcycles of naval officers who were driving against traffic while dressed in civilian attire. The naval officers resisted arrest and a physical altercation ensued.
