KANO GAME OF THRONE Takes New Turn As Gov Yusuf Orders Immediate Demolition Of Ado Bayero’s Palace
Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, is currently residing at the Nasarawa GRA Mini Palace. The Kano State Government has instructed the Commissioner of Police to remove him.
The government has already finalized plans for the general rebuilding and renovation of the land, including the crumbling wall fence, with immediate effect, according to state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice. Haruna Dederi, during a news conference.
A few hours ago, the Federal High Court rendered a decision in a substantive suit, upholding the Kano Emirate Council Repeal Law 2024 but declaring Governor Abba Yusuf’ s acts after its passing to be void. This is according to TVC.
Following the passing of the Kano Emirate Council Repeal Law 2024, Justice Abdullahi Liman ruled that all subsequent actions were void. Justice Liman had, nevertheless, mandated that the parties keep things as they were. Additionally, the respondent’ s request for a stay of proceedings was granted by the court, and the case was transferred to Federal High Court 3 while it was heard and decided by the Court of Appeal.
Following the law’s repeal by the Kano Assembly, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf deposed Aminu Ado Bayero as Kano’ s emir to put it into effect. Along with removing the emirs chosen by his predecessor, Abdullahi Ganduje, Governor Yusuf also undid the establishment of four new emirates: Bichi, Rano Karaye, Gaya, and Rano Karaye.
In light of this legislation, Ganduje removed Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 14th Emir of Kano, in 2020; however, the governor installed him back.
