A devastating incident has occurred in the Swat area of northwest Pakistan, where a tourist was brutally beaten and burned to death by a frenzied mob, accused of blasphemy.
The victim, who was reportedly visiting the Swat Valley, a popular summer destination, was alleged to have desecrated the Quran, leading to a violent outcry from the local community.
Despite efforts by the police to protect the man, the mob, fueled by religious fervor, stormed the police station, overpowered the authorities, and dragged the tourist out. Watch Video Here
The gruesome incident was captured on video, showing the tourist’s lifeless body being paraded through the streets before being set ablaze, Eleven people, including eight police officers, were injured in the melee. The local mosque had allegedly incited the crowd to assemble, and the police chief, Mohammad Ali Gandapur, confirmed that the tourist had been torched.”
The authorities have launched a case against hundreds of participants, including some as young as 13, and deployed additional security personnel to the area.
In a similar event, a middle-aged man, Yunusa, was killed by a mob in Bauchi State, Nigeria, after allegedly making blasphemous comments against Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The incident occurred in Nasaru village, Ningi Local Government Area, around 3: 00 p. m. on Wednesday.
According to eyewitnesses, Yunusa, a member of the Faira Islamic Sect, was arguing with friends when he made the blasphemous comment, which sparked outrage among the crowd.
Despite efforts by the police to intervene, the mob overpowered them and killed Yunusa, using stones, sticks, and other dangerous objects. The police station in the village was also attacked, and the mob attempted to burn it down.
The Bauchi State Police Command has not officially confirmed the incident, as the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakili, did not respond to calls, SMS, or WhatsApp messages.
This tragic event is the latest in a series of violent incidents related to blasphemy in Nigeria, highlighting the need for the government to address the issue of religious extremism and intolerance in the country.
