HEARTBREAKING!! 13- Year-Old Boy Commits Suicide After He Was Brutally Beaten By Soldiers
The family of Saul Hashimu from the Ungwan Maigero Community in Chikun LGA, Kaduna State, is seeking justice for the death of their 13-year- old son, Wisdom, who was allegedly brutalized by a soldier and members of the civilian Joint Task Force (JTF). The boy, who lived with his parents on Lafiya Sarki Street in the same LGA, allegedly committed himself on Friday, June 6, 2024, after being wrongly accused of stealing N10, 000 from a neighbor and abused by soldiers and civilian JTF members.
Wisdom was badly beaten by a soldier and civilian JTF members just days before his death, on June 1, 2024, while taking his Junior Secondary School examination. Hope, a 16-year- old neighbor, accused Wisdom of taking the money and allegedly informed her lover, Segun Samson, a soldier stationed at Bodi Camp in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State. According to Channels TV, the soldier allegedly refused to alert the police and instead took Wisdom and Hope’s brother, both accused of theft, to the civilian JTF headquarters, where Wisdom was severely assaulted until he was unable to walk.
Wisdom went home after obtaining medical attention, but disaster struck on Thursday, June 6, 2024, when his lifeless body was discovered hanging from a rope in the back of their compound while his parents were. gone. Wisdom’s parents are seeking justice for his death, which has left them distraught. His father recounted the events: “On June 1, 2024, I was in Zaria when I learned that Wisdom had been accused of stealing N1000 from my neighbour’s daughter (Miss Hope Danladi).
“I was also told that the Civilian JTF took matters into their own hands and beat Wisdom. But, contrary to my greatest expectations, the Civilian JTF only managed to put Wisdom in a coma, while Hope’s younger brother was spared and returned home safely. Following an inquiry at home, her (Hope’s) younger brother admitted to the crime. When he was checked, N9000 was discovered in his pocket, but he said he had already spent N1000.
“I was also told that Hope called her lover, Segun Samson, who presented himself to the Civilian JTF on Dokaji Street in Narayi as a serving soldier at Bodi Camp in Port- Harcourt after showing his ID card for validation. This was when Hope summoned Samson, who took Wisdom and Hope’ s younger brother to the civilian JTF office and persuaded the Civilian JTF to discipline the boys. “My son was badly abused by the Civilian JTF to the point where he could not walk. We took him to the hospital, where he received medical care while we reported the incident to the police.
