How I Got Pregnant After Getting Raped Multiple Times In My Village- Bayelsa Woman Recalls Unpleasant Experience
Tina Wilson, a young lady discovered idly and wandering around in the Kulende neighbourhood of llorin, the capital city of Kwara state has recounted her unpleasant experience. of how she was compelled to relocate to Kwara State after being raped in Bayelsa State, leading to her getting pregnant.
Sadly, before leaving on an unspecified journey that took her to Kwara State, Tina told a delegation from the Ministry of Social Development that she had been. sexually assaulted a few months prior in her village in the Mbiama Local Government Area LGA of Bayelsa
State.
She claimed that, I was raped while in Bayelsa. Since then, I decided to leave the state. I was just walking, boarding cabs from place to place. Sometimes, I begged for alms for transport fare till I found myself here in Kwara”.
When questioned and approached, Tina begged not to be returned to her state, expressing gratitude for the love and care she has received so far from the Kwara State Government and it’s residents.
The distraught lady vowed not to abort the pregnancy but give birth to the child even if it wasn’t the way she planned on becoming a mother while saying that, back then in her village in Bayelsa, she was a victim of molestation from both young and old men in the region who took advantage of her and when she couldn’t bear it anymore, she decided to flee before things get out of hand for her even if it was already so unpleasant for her and unknowingly to her, she was already pregnant and got to find out by the time she succeeded in relocating to Kwara state.
Meanwhile, in order to promote social sanity and self-development, the government is committed to promptly intervening and supporting all vulnerable groups, as stated by Mrs. Opeyemi Oluwakemi Afolashade, Commissioner for Social Development.
Although she was grateful for everyone’s prompt response, Mrs. Afolashade affirmed saying that, the ministry, by its established law, has the mandate to receive, evacuate, provide shelter and make necessary intervention to the vulnerable and the needy regardless of their status or social stratification”.
