“I CAN’T AFFORD It”- Watch This Shocking Video As Top Politician REJECTS N100, 000 Minimum Wage
Amid the ongoing negotiation for a new minimum wage between the federal government and the organised labour, a video of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, rejecting the N100, 000 minimum wage has gone viral.
The former Benue State Governor who was made the SGF by President Bola Tinubu said he would not be able to pay his drivers N100, 000 each, stressing that they are four and there is no money.
It was gathered that he made this known while addressing the National Executive Council of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN. He said: ” I can’t afford to pay my driver N100, 000 per month because they are four, where is the money? Meanwhile, this comes amid the claimed that the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has proposed N105, 000 as the new minimum wage.
President Tinubu on Tuesday directed the Minister to within 48 hours present a template with cost implications of a new minimum wage, which will be used during the meeting with the organised labour.
It was reported that the cost template was submitted on Thursday, and it has been generating reactions from the masses, particularly after it was claimed that over N100, 000 was presented to the President by the Minister.
However, while reacting to the speculations, the presidency through Special Adviser to the President on Media and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, debunked the report. He claimed that the Mr. Wale Edun did not present N105, 000 to the President contrary to the report on the social media.
He urged Nigerians to disregard the false report as the federal government and the organised labour continue the negotiation to determine an appropriate amount that will favour both sides.
“The Honorable Minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Wale Edun has not proposed N105, 000 minimum wage. The contrary story being disseminated is false, he said.
