The sudden death of landlord Apeh Benjamin in Aribabu village, Sotubo, Ogun State, after a dispute with tenant Emmanuel over unpaid rent has prompted an investigation by the Ogun State Police Command. The argument between the two escalated to threats of violence before tragically resulting in Benjamin’s death as he collapsed during the confrontation.
The state command’ s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and reassured the public that a detailed investigation was being carried out to ascertain the precise cause of Benjamin’s death. Odutola reported that “Apeh Benjamin of Aribabu village, Sotubo, Ogun State, a landlord, collapsed and passed away at approximately 0630hrs following a heated dispute with his tenant, Emmanuel.
Emmanuel who had threatened to harm his landlord over unpaid rent, this unfortunate event serves as a reminder of the often unstable nature of relationships between landlords and tenants, particularly when financial disagreements arise. The police’ s dedication to investigating the circumstances surrounding the death is essential in ensuring fairness. and preventing similar incidents from occurring in the future.
In another heartbreaking incident, armed individuals have abducted and murdered Comrade Daniel Umaru Lagi, the father of Innocent Lagi, a former Attorney-General of Nasarawa State. Comrade Lagi was taken captive and is said to have been killed after declining to permit a ransom to be provided for his release, his remains were discovered and taken to a medical facility in Akwanga Local Government Area.
