Former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo has stated that while Nigeria is a complex nation, governing it is not overly challenging. During the inauguration of the presidential lodge at the Osun State Government House, Oke- Fia, Osogbo, alongside Governor Ademola Adeleke and former governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola on Sunday, May 12, Obasanjo emphasized that effective governance hinges on leaders’ honesty and Integrity.
He remarked, “In my experience, Nigeria is a complex country, but it is not difficult to govern. One might similarly argue that Osun State is a complex state, yet not challenging to govern. Being truthful to your conscience, the people, and to God is paramount. One’s character and reputation should reflect integrity, honesty, and diligence. When there is transparency, darkness dissipates in the face of light.
Obasanjo’ s comments come at a time when some Nigerians on the social media platform X have initiated the trending hashtag #TinubuMustGo to express their dissatisfaction with the current socio-economic conditions in Nigeria, which they attribute to President Bola Tinubu’s unsuccessful economic strategies.
