‘Take Your First Salary To Your Father And Not Your Pastor’ – Kanayo Sparks Controversy, Gives Reason Why [VIDEO]
Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, popularly known for his ritual roles in movies has sparked up a debate topic.
Contrary to the practice of giving pastors the first income, Kanayo O. Kanayo in a trending video advocates for a tradition where a son’s initial. salary is given to his father for blessings.
Drawing from personal experience, the actor cited his son, Clinton Onyeze, as an example.
Recently, Clinton served as an intern on a movie set, and upon receiving his salary of N50k, Kanayo took N500 as a symbolic gesture of honoring his
father.
He emphasized that the amount a parent may receive from their child’ s earnings can vary.
Kanayo asserts that this approach aligns more with Igbo cultural norms and underscores the significance of the father’s role in financial guidance and authority over the child, contrasting the perceived authority of pastors in such matters.
In his words; “I want to observe a culture from our ancestors which has led to the progress of many people you see today,Father blessing.’ “Clinton my son just concluded a few production management with us and he has earned his first salary, his first salary is N50, 000 for a movie. Clinton from your pocket in the N50, 000 give me N500.
“The first salary of a young man, he goes to his father to say Nnayi my salary is N50, 000, the father may decide to take the entire money, he may also decide to take any amount and his father will now bless him.
“The idea of his father asking him to know the salary is, so his father would teach him financial management.
“All you going to pastors to give your salary, you are wasting your time, is not part of our culture.”
Also, the actor went ahead to blast a
pastor who had demanded first fruit
be paid to him. In his words; “Take your first SALARY to your father for his blessings NOT TO YOUR PASTOR. And to that Pastor
who said it belongs to him in a video in January, did you ever consider, the feeding/transportation to and fro the office for that month? Where is this in the Bible?
