The Gombe State Police Command security men have detained a young. man named Ahmadu Saminu, a 25- year-old resident of Bajoga in the Funakaye Local Government Area LGA of Gombe State.
The suspect, Saminu, also referred to as Malam Mai Batalia, is a local fortune teller with a broad possession of a wide range of cliental base that is scattered across all the local government areas LGAs in the state, and other neighbouring states.
Giving a detailed report of what happened, it was learnt that Saminu saw visions and interpreted dreams for his clients. But things went wrong when his victim who was said to have come to him after having a nightmare the previous night became hypnotized and he (Saminu) exploited and used her to his advantage by engaging in sexual intércourse with her. Sources revealed that, following her visit to Saminu for an interpretation to her dream, she was hypnotized and defiled”.
When contacted, the Gombe State Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, confirmed the arrest and the allegation to newsmen, saying that Saminu was in fact detained for allegedly getting someone else’s wife pregnant all in the name of seeing a vision on her behalf and interpreting her nightmare. Abdullahi added that, the victim is 20 years. Her husband, Bashiru Bello, reported the case. She dreamt about her mother being a witch and needed an interpretation into what she said she saw only for her to visit Saminu to know what she needed to do. But she was lured into his room

“However, the victim claimed she was pregnant for four months but bled and, as a result, lost the pregnancy. We have taken the victim to the hospital to ascertain the allegation. But the case is in court”, he affirmed.
Meanwhile, several Funakaye locals have expressed disapproval of the purported significant interest in Saminu’s release. A local, going only by the name, Hassan, claimed to be a resident and to have connections to influential people who are actively trying to free Saminu from police custody. “Mai Batalia has been doing this for long. It is not the first time the police are under pressure to let him out. He consults for some big men, and they want him out of police custody’, he said. Another local, who went by Muhammad, told newsmen that. releasing Saminu without taking any harsh punishment could be fatal as some youths are planning to burn his cows and any attempt to release him. will not be tolerated. Enough of his nefarious activities”, he emphasized strongly.
