Many congregants, eager for diverse miracles, would rush to the altar, dropping significant sums of money, while others opted for electronic transfers to the church’s account.
Despite the elaborate scheme, the compensation for Madam Alimot and her accomplices, who traveled from Ibadan to neighboring states and back, was a mere N7, 000, inclusive of transportation expenses. Madam Alimot’s clandestine activities came to light when she
enlisted the nephew of a tenant in the
deceptive scheme.
However, after the victim’s involvement, the teen received a meager N500 for his participation and subsequently faced threats from Madam Alimat, who feared exposure.
The operation’s modus operandi involved theatrical performances during church services, resembling scenes from a movie, where participants would assume various roles, including pretending to be lunatics, imbeciles, deaf, dumb, blind, or spiritually oppressed individuals. These performances continued until the syndicate was exposed by the teenager.

Madam Alimot, a resident of Ibadan, shared her side of the story, attributing her involvement to financial hardship. following accidents that led to the collapse of her beer and wine-selling. business.
She confessed to participating in the
scheme several times, assuming roles
