TENSION! Tinubu Govt Attempting To Arrest Peter Obi – Charly Boy Raises Alarm
Musician and social critic, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has raised an alarm over an alleged attempt to arrest the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, by the President Bola Tinubu-led government.
According to Charly Boy, the purported arrest is linked to Obi’s consistent criticism of Tinubu and his administration’s governance and accountability.
In a post on X, Charly Boy warned against any arrest or charges brought against the former Governor of Anambra, warning that such actions would be met with unprecedented resistance.
His words: “There’s a report of an attempt of arrest on Peter Obi, by Tinubu’s Government over Peter Obi’s consistent refusal to back down on calling Tinubu out towards good governance and accountability.
“Any arrest or charges against Obi must be met with a resistance as never seen in the history of Nigeria before, and the Obidients are ready for it.
“Tinubu’s government must trend with caution not to set this nation on fire
with an illegal arrest of HE Peter Obi.

Following the constant criticisms of the demolition of existing businesses and structures in Lagos State to commence the Lagos-Calabar coastal online that Obi did a similar demolition highway, there have been reports without compensating residents in Anambra.
However, in a statement via X on Thursday, Obi claimed that his actions were strategic during his tenure as Governor, stressing his administration aimed at prioritizing the repair and maintenance of existing infrastructure over projects that risked disruption and destruction.
Obi also challenged critics to provide evidence of where existing roads and businesses were demolished during his tenure.
Obi stressed that the ongoing destruction and disruption of jobs and livelihoods associated with the Lagos- Calabar coastal road construction sharply contrasts with his administration’s efforts to improve infrastructure while minimizing adverse impacts on communities.
Obi also refuted the allegation of incitement against President Bola Tinubu’s government, adding that the accusation is aimed at tarnishing his image.
The statement read, “It has come to
my attention, and I strongly denounce
the distortion of facts surrounding my
actions and statements during my
tenure as Governor of Anambra State, particularly concerning the ongoing demolitions for the construction of the
Lagos-Calabar coastal super highway.
