‘She Stripped Me Naked In Front Of My Congregation’- Pastor Cries Out To Court, Begs For Divorce
A Cleric, David Odeniyi has petitioned the Mapo Grade’ A’ Customary Court in Ibadan seeking the dissolution of his marriage to his estranged wife, Bolanle, citing domestic violence and frequent public humiliation in church as the primary reasons.
Detailing his grievances before the court, Odeniyi, a resident of the Basorun area in Ibadan, accused his wife of having a volatile temper and engaging in embarrassing behavior. He recounted instances where she would forcefully pull and tug at his trousers in an attempt to disgrace him publicly. Expressing regret over his decision to marry her, Odeniyi lamented that he never anticipated such treatment from his spouse.
The cleric revealed that Bolanle had abandoned him and their only child to travel to Libya without his consent, where she had stayed for two years. Additionally, he accused her of stripping him naked in front of their congregation and divulging private information shared between them. Furthermore, he alleged that Bolanle would prevent visitors from meeting him, poison his food, and even physically assault him by kicking him in the stomach.

“She pulls and drags my trousers in order to disgrace me. “Had I known that my wife would treat me like this, I would never have married her. “Bolanle abandoned me with our only child and travelled to Libya. “She’s been there for two years without my approval.
“In fact, she stripped me naked in front of my congregation and maliciously exposed the secret I kept. with her.
“Worst still, Bolanle usually prevent
visitors from seeing me, poisoned my
food and kicked me in the stomach,”
Pastor Odeniyi said.
Odeniyi disclosed that he had previously initiated divorce proceedings against Bolanle at a Grade C’ Customary Court in the Gate area of Ibadan.
Despite efforts at reconciliation by the
court, he asserted that his wife had not shown any willingness to change her behavior. However, Bolanle failed to appear in court to defend herself against the allegations leveled by her husband, despite being present to witness his testimony. Watch Related Video Of Wife Beating.

The court bailiff confirmed that Bolanle had been served with multiple hearing notices but chose to disregard them. In her judgment, the President of the court, Mrs. S. M. Akintayo, acknowledged the existence of a valid customary marriage between Odeniyi and Bolanle based on the evidence presented. She emphasized the importance of considering unchallenged evidence,
particularly in cases where the respondent fails to appear in court. As a result, Akintayo granted Odeniyi’ s request for the dissolution of the marriage and issued a restraining. order against Bolanle, prohibiting her from harassing or interfering in Odeniyi’ s private life.
