Since assuming office as the 6th civilian governor of Osun State on 27 November 2022, Mr. Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has left citizens pondering the identity of the First Lady. The governor’s wives both played significant roles in his gubernatorial aspirations and campaigns.
Who Holds the Title Of First Lady? As the posters continued to circulate on social media, the question. emerged, Who holds the title of First Lady? An X user, Olusola Bauchi (aronvic98), expressed concerns about the governor’ s wives failure to reach a consensus and collaborate effectively.
Adedotun (remidotun86), another X user, voiced concerns that Osun State faced challenges because the governor’ s wives were vying for the title of First Lady. Muhyideen Bolakale, a Facebook user, observed that traditionally, only one woman would hold the title of the governor’ s wife, but the current situation in Osun State departed from this tradition.. While some may not see the action as detrimental to the state, discerning individuals would acknowledge the inappropriate circumstances affecting the governor’s household. “It indicates that the governor cannot effectively manage his own marital affairs. The question now is, ‘If a governor can’t handle his marital matters, will he effectively manage the affairs of his state? Bolakale added.
Nonetheless, on Monday, the Osun State Govemment clarified the confusion in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Alimi. The statement, shared on the state’ s official X page on Monday, disclosed the officially recognized wife of the governor.
In part, it stated: “The wife of Osun State Governor, Titilola Adeleke, has depicted the Tuesday visit of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to Osogbo, the State capital, as another crucial opportunity to be fully utilized because of the numerous benefits associated with such a visit for the advancement and progress of people, particularly women and children’ As per the statement, Mrs. Titilola hosted members of a special committee established by her husband for the visit of the First Lady. She remarked that Mrs. Tinubu’s visit would yield numerous advantages, including the advancement and progress of people, particularly women and children.
