A militant group in the South- Southern part of the country linked to the gruesome murder of 16 soldiers in the region told President Bola Tinubu- led government to hand over waterways security to the militants else oil bunkering will not stop.
According to the report, the militant group led by a man identified as Amagbein was behind the death of the security personnel at Okuama, Delta State, on March 14.
It was gathered that the leader of the group was on the run. He has gone into hiding since the Army identified him as the culprit behind the attack. The soldiers have reportedly tracked him to Igbomotoru community in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, but did not find him.
Vanguard reported that a member of the group who spoke on the situation in a video that has gone viral revealed that Amagbein is from the same lineage as the Ijaw revolutionary leader, the late Isaac Adaka Boro.
He added that no matter the situation, they will stand behind Amagbein, urging the federal government to give the waterway security to the person doing the appropriate work, or else incidents of bunkering will not stop.
” We, the followers will stand with Amagbein until death do us apart.
” We are begging the Federal Government to ensure that the waterways security is given to the person doing the right work, ” he said.
Added that ” bunkering will not stop if the Federal Government refuses to attend to us in a peaceful, easy way. ”
Meanwhile, the burial ceremony of Nigerian Army Personnel killed in action at Okuama Community will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the National Cemetary, Abuja.
It was gathered that Mr. Tinubu, the President Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Federal Republic of Nigeria would be the Special Guest of Honour at the event. The burial will start at 3:00 p. m.
