Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo, has reportedly claimed that Yoruba nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, was allegedly sponsored by Tayo Ayinde, the chief of staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo- Olu, to assassinate him.
In a voice recording purportedly made by Adams, he allegedly implicated President Bola Tinubu as the person sending Ayinde to eliminate him.
However, in pre- action letters issued by lawyers representing Ayinde and Igboho, they demanded that Adams withdraw the accusation. When contacted for a response to the circulating allegation, Adams declined to comment on the matter.
Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo, has reportedly accused self- proclaimed Yoruba nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho, of receiving N45 million from Governor Babajide’ s Chief of Staff (CoS), Tayo Ayinde.
In a report by The Punch, the Yoruba generalissimo alleged that Ayinde, purportedly working for Tinubu, conspired to eliminate him and that they had collaborated with Sunday Igboho to carry out the assassination.
Regarding the claims of assassination, when contacted by The Punch, Gani Adams neither confirmed nor denied the allegation but simply responded, ” No comment on that. No comment. ”
In separate pre- action letters, the legal representatives of Ayinde and Igboho demanded that Adams retract the alleged assassination accusations against them or face legal consequences.
Adeyinka Olumide- Fusika (SAN), Ayinde’ s lawyer, issued a pre- action letter dated March 20, 2024, urging the Aare Ona Kakanfo to withdraw the allegation, stating that further action from their client’ s side may be unnecessary if Adams complies.

Olumide- Fusika reiterated the necessity of issuing the pre-action letter due to the contents of the press statement released by Sunday Igboho, titled ” I did not take part in killing Chief Bola Ige.”
He emphasized that Adams’ allegation was damaging to his client’ s reputation and character. Consequently, Olumide- Fusika demanded that the Aare Ona Kakanfo retract the statement promptly.
