The Zamfara state community Protection Guards CPG operatives has allegedly killed a prominent Islamic Scholar and Iman of Mada Jumu’at Mosque Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada.
The Chief Iman was reported to have picked up by the CPG operatives where they stormed his residence Mada and carried him to unknown destination and instantly slaughtered him.
A resident of Mada who pleaded for anonymity told our reporter on Telephone call that, at about 3:30 pm on Tuesday, the CPG operatives directly stormed the house of the Chief Iman where they met him performing ablution and took him outside town only in less than 30 minutes to hear that he was killed.
“They directly went to the residence of late Sheikh Abubakar Mada at about 3:30 pm when he is performing ablution to lead evening prayer and took him out of the town and slaughtered him there.
According to him, the Chief Iman Abubakar Hassan had about one ago intervened in the rescue of some Okada Riders who returned home from their business in Lagos, but where intercepted by vigilante group who accused them as bandits, thereby one of the vigilante known as Maikarfi accused the Chief Iman of conniving with bandits.
The source added that the case which happen over a year, had gone through the Criminals Investigation Department at Zamfara state police command where the Okada Rivers were released after investigation, and the vigilante members under the leadership of Maikarfi continue to accused Sheikh Abubakar Mada in conniving with bandits.
He stressed that Maikarfi the leader of Vigilante group was opportunity to have been recruited as member of Zamfara state Community Protection Guards CPG from Mada town and was accused of masterminding the killing of Sheikh Hassan Mada.
When contacted the state Commandant Community Protection Guards CPG Col. Yandoto Rtd, on alleged killing of Sheikh Hassan Mada by his members group, said the case is under investigation, adding that “the command will thoroughly investigate the issue and prosecute anybody found guilty of Chief Iman murdered”.
